The Grammar School Day
Mrs. Banford liked children and an orderly school.
She carried a pink yardstick and had others hanging on the wall in her office.
If you broke rules by doing things like breaking crayons or misbehaving in class, you would be sent to the principal's office.
Children attended school Monday through Friday. Village children went home for lunch and the country kids stayed at school for lunch. There were eight grades and kindergarten in the school. They had special classes in music and gym. Classroom teachers taught art in their rooms.
