Canton Free Library will be closed on Labor Day, Monday, September 6.

SUMMER PROGRAMS BIG SUCCESS FOR ALL AGES
The libraries’ Make a Splash, Make Waves, and Water Your Mind summer programs have all come to an end. A total of 55 events brought in a final attendance number of just under 1,000! Congratulations to Valerie, Krista and Annette for their successful summer. Thanks to Agnes and Joan who held smaller-scale programs at the branches. Hard to believe, but plans for 2011 are already in the works!

Thanks also to the local businesses that supported the library’s programming by donating a wonderful variety of prizes or offering support in other ways. And a big thank you to all of the participants of all ages. Hope to see you all in the library as fall programming gets underway after Labor Day.

One final summer note for the adult readers: there was a tie for the Grand Prize. Winners were Sue Cutway, who chose a gift certificate to the Brewer Bookstore, and Maureen McGaw, who received a Vera Bradley-style purse created by Patricia Bell.

WORKS DISPLAY
Students of Mary Sue Seymour have their works on display at the library through the month of August. Take a look at their paintings and drawings the next time you visit the library.

The August trivia question is on the library’s blog and Facebook page. It's a question from the Scott Pilgrim graphic novel series by Bryan Lee O'Malley. Check it out!

BLU-RAY MOVIES ADDED TO COLLECTION
It’s a small collection right now, only four titles, but we wanted to offer one of the newest formats and have added these titles: Sherlock Holmes; The Dark Knight; The Wizard of Oz; and Avatar. Patrons must have a BLU-RAY player in order to view these movies.
