objectionable conduct on the library premises.

Patrons must respect the rights of other patrons to use the library and not engage in activities that would
interfere with that use. Examples of inappropriate behavior include but are not limited to:
- Excessive noise
- Strong or offensive odor on self or belongings (perfume, alcohol, etc.)
- Harassment

- Foul Language
- Being under the influence of drugs or alcohol
Children
The Dexter Free Library encourages visits by young children and it is our desire to make this important visit both memorable and enjoyable of the child. Library staff is not expected the assume responsibility for the care of unsupervised children in the library. Therefore, it is library policy that all children under age six must be accompanied by a parent or designated responsible person while in the library. Children (whether with parents or not) who are being continuously disruptive will be given a warning that he/she must settle down or will be asked to leave the library.
If after a second warning the child continues to be disruptive, he/she will be asked to leave the library. If the child
needs to contact a parent, they may do so and then wait with a staff person until the parent arrives.
- No food or beverages are to be consumed in the library with the exception of pre-approval by the library director.
- No Animals allowed in the Library except for assistance animals.
- No smoking in the Library.
- The telephone is not for public use other than emergency situations. Library staff will determine the necessity
for such phone use.
- Shirts and shoes must be worn. No skates or skateboards allowed.
- The library reserves the right to inspect all packages before patrons enter
or exit the library.
- No weapons of any kind allowed or devices that could be used as a weapon.
- Any patron not abiding by these policies or not obeying the reasonable
request of the Library staff may be asked to leave the Library or will be referred to local police.
