Plans & Funding ….

We lobbied successfully with other north country libraries for funding to be increased  in the state budget. And then, Gov. Patterson was instrumental in decreasing funds to libraries by 8 %!  It looks like funding will get cut even more in the next year. This wouldn't be of note in the current economic climate, except library funding has stayed the same since 1998!! It is also a given that library use increases in a poor economy.

We  requested a State Construction Grant for 2008. It was approved and funds were received. It will complete the energy conservation plans we have. The library portion of the building now has a new furnace and air conditioner. The emergency generator has been installed. Just the update of the security lighting remains to be done. Thanks to the Town of Hounsfield, for their support with the rest of the funding.

The 501 ©  (3) has been received from the Internal Revenue Service, in order for us  to directly obtain donations to our non-profit. Yeah! It only took a year!! We can now accept donations from corporations and individuals directly.

It is always a tightrope act, trying to keep our operational funds at a workable level in this economic climate. Assistance from the community in both financial and volunteer support is crucial.

We respectfully ask that the community remember the library with memorial donations.

We would also like to solicit support from local businesses and corporations.

Welcome to the Daisy Troop, now using our basement.
Thank-you to Annie and Jay Rivest  for their donation of furniture for a reading area in the basement.
A microwave is also available.
