The Alfred Chevalier Memorial Library at Holy Ghost Academy Elementary School is
open and fully staffed Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. during which time, students and staff are free to come in for independent research or relaxation . Every class has regularly scheduled weekly visits when each student has the opportunity to peruse the shelves and check out books. In addition, children in grades K-2 have a volunteer parent who comes in and reads to them. The staff is supplemented by a group of volunteers who interact with the students and assist in daily operation.
As a member of the Franklin, Essex, Hamilton School Library System, the library is an Electronic Doorway Library that offers over 5,000 volumes in house and access to the resources of all participating libraries through Inter Library Loan. In addition to several different encyclopideas on CD-ROM, patrons also have unlimited Internet access research purposes.
An after school reading program, "Book-a-neers", offers interested students the
opportunity to share adventures in literature with their peers. This program is also provided by the dedication of a library volunteer.
