Description: The purpose of this class is to provide participants with experience with Firefox,
and specifically with information oriented Extensions: what they do, where they are, and how to integrate
them into a Firefox Browser. Firefox is an open source World Wide Web Browser. Because open source code is
open to see, programmers and web-enthusiasts have developed utilities for Firefox that make it an
increasingly dynamic and flexible browser. These utilities are called Extensions, and are defined by
Firefox developers as "...small add-ons that add new functionality to Firefox, from a simple toolbar button to
a completely new feature. They allow you to customize Firefox..." These extensions or "add-ons" may include
All-in-One Sidebar, Mini Map Sidebar, Forecast Fox for feeds, news and blogging, dictionaries, language help
and much, much more. Extensions can be applied to just about any web-based function, and over time a number
of Extensions have been developed that speak directly to searching for and managing information.
