For Teachers

This WebQuest was written for a 6th grade class of mixed learners. Students were randomly divided into groups. Each group was able to choose a topic and choice of project.

Students had access to library books and internet resources. The project was taught by both classroom teacher and library media specialist in the library media center with access to a wireless computer lab.

The students were proficient in PowerPoint and Publisher. Windows Movie Maker was taught to any group that had not used it previously.

MLA Citation style was reviewed and required for all resources.

 

The WebQuest is extended over a period of 4 weeks based on 30 minutes a day working time according to he following timeline:

  • Day 1 - Introduce project; choose topics
  • Day 2 - Model completed projects; Students find encyclopedia article, complete MLA Style sheet, and read.
  • Day 3 - Finish encyclopedia
  • Days 4- 6- Locate print resources; complete MLA Style sheets; take notes
  • Days 7-10 - Locate online resources; complete MLA Style sheets; take notes
  • Days 11-13 - Plan project
  • Days 14 - 20 - Using the wireless lab complete project from design plan
