Welcome to the web branch of the Tupper Lake Middle/High School Library. The library is part of the Tupper Lake Central School District, located in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains.

Our library provides information for the research needs of roughly 650 students and faculty in grades 7-12. This year (1998) our modest collection (roughly 5000 book and periodical titles) has been automated using a computerized card catalog and circulation system (Mandarin), and we have internet access. Our library has seven computer stations networked through the library fileserver, all with CD ROM drives. On this system students and faculty may use one of several CD ROM sources (encyclopedias, periodical article databases, a regional card catalog called NORPAC, etc.), or access our automated card catalog. The circulation desk computer is online for internet access, interlibrary loan requests, and fax requests. Access to the World Wide Web should be expanded during the 1998-1999 school year (to include subscription databases such as ProQuest Direct, and Electric Library). With the availability of these various resources, we have been granted "Electronic Doorway Library" status by New York State.

With these sources, we strive to teach students the processes necessary to gather information on all sides of an issue. This ability allows them to complete research projects developed in conjunction with faculty members across the curricula. Through these research assignments, students develop the critical thinking skills which they will carry through their academic careers, and beyond. Our school's goal is to create lifelong learners, who will find success in an increasingly information driven society.
