• Ancestry.com -- One of the most popular family and genealogy sites on-line. Initial searching free, but fuller information available for a fee.
• AncestryPlus.com -- a commercial site which has access to many Census records not otherwise available. But be aware that there is a $100 subscription fee to access the full resources of this site.
• Census Bureau -- U.S. Census data and information from the U.S. Census Bureau.
• Civil War Soldiers and Sailors -- A National Park Service website with extensive information about Civil War participants.
• Cyndi's List -- One of the most extensive collection of links (110,850) to genealogical resources.
• Ellis Island -- New arrivals by ship from Europe between 1892 and 1924.
• FamilySearch.com -- from the Church of Latter Day Saints (the Mormons).
• Genealogical Research at The New York Public Library
• GENUKI.org -- Genealogical Research in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
• Imigrant Ships Transcribers Guidl -- Over 6500 shipping manifests transcribed.
• Irish Family History Foundation -- Covers the 32 counties of Ireland, North, South, East and West.
• National Archives and Records Administration
• National Archives of Canada -- Explore Canadian Memory.
• New Hampshire State Library -- The New Hampshire State Library houses approximately 2400 titles of published family histories for New Hampshire and New England.
• New York-nygenweb -- The New York State site of the USGenWeb Project.
• Olive Tree Genealogy -- A free site with databases, help screens, and resources.
• PBS Website -- Companion website to the TV series with comprehensive list of web links.
• Social Security Death Index -- An explanation of this index and links to numerous genealogical sites and resources.
• U.S. Citizenship and Naturalization Service -- A resource for Immigration and Naturalization Services.
• U.S. Civil War Center -- a good introduction to the process of doing genealogical research.
• United States Internet Genealogical Society -- Not a government site, but much useful information such as links, vital records, and veterans registry.
• U. of Kentucky -- Lots of very good links to useful sites.
